Carlota Puiggròs, winner of the Covides scholarship 2020-2021

The first year GNMI student, Carlota Puiggròs Catasús, from Vilafranca del Penedès, has obtained the Covides scholarship for the academic year 2020-2021, a recognition endowed with a prize of 1,800 €. This scholarship aims to support the best new student of the regions of Alt Penedès, Baix Penedès and Garraf. Yesterday at noon was made the delivery of the scholarship, an act that initially should have been held at the beginning of the course, but had to be postponed due to the pandemic. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Ricard Gil and Mr. Christophe Marquet, general director and commercial director of Covides, respectively, Dr. Albert Carreras and Mr. Nacho Dualde, director and manager of ESCI-UPF and Carlota's parents.

Covides is the first wine cooperative in Catalonia by harvest volume. Grape production, on average, is close to 24 million kg each year and its 650 members cultivate almost 2,000 hectares. Exports account for two thirds of production, so the relationship between Covides and ESCI-UPF has been intense in recent years: through the Career Service, several alumni who have worked to develop and consolidate new markets and also thanks to the participation of Covides managers in some ESCI-UPF continuing education programs.
